In 1989, after graduating from the 4-year apprentice program at the International Electrical Contractors Association of America, and 8 years of working in the field, Jeff Unger Sr. launched Unger Electric. Working out of his truck with no employees, Unger Sr. slowly took on small commercial projects and built a steady client base that trusted his dependable work.
As the business grew, Unger Sr. added employees to handle the increased demand. The company also added licenses in 8 states, began working on projects across the entire southeast U.S., and offered a helping hand in both New Orleans and Haiti when disaster struck.
The 1990s provided significant growth opportunities, and the business grew to over 35 employees in the field.
By staying lean in the office, Unger Electric survived the market’s downturn in 2008, and quickly rebounded. Unger Sr. then brought on his two sons – Jeff Unger Jr., and Justin Unger. The sons’ current management of the financial, administrative, and estimating functions has allowed Unger Sr. to continue to develop and grow the business.
Hiring of an experienced management team has enabled Unger Electric to now handle commercial electrical projects up to $4 million as well as the related servicing of such accounts – assisted living facilities and large property management accounts included.
Jeff Unger Sr. and his sons have always been, and always will be, family-oriented people. It is that same family-oriented trait that drives the company’s closely-knit team – a team where employees push each other, yet have each other’s back.
Unger Electric LLC has developed into a first-class operation. As a Certified Georgia Power Trade Ally, Unger Electric looks forward to serving the commercial electrical industry for many years and generations to come.
